I picked up my new (to me) 2012 Prius C on Saturday. Today was my first "real world" commute to work and I'm embarrassed to say I spent almost as much time looking at the gauges as I did the road this morning. So I end up pulling into the garage at work showing 61.0 mpg for the trip. Fast forward to earlier this evening when I get home after my evening commute and I'm actually feeling bad that it went down to only 57mpg! Oh Lordy, what am I going to do!? Does this craziness go away over time? (and yes, I know it is a horrible commute.)
You have what we call MPG-philia. Welcome! Embrace the insanity. You'll like it here, we have cookies.
It fades with time, so you will have less distracted driving, but the money saved will still be there.
Just curious- is that the screen that's always on or does that pop up when you turn off the car? Thanks!
It's just one of many I can choose to look at. For the purposes of this thread, I thought it was the most telling. . When the car is really off, the display goes out.
on the lift back we don't get that screen, it's a good one. we get some thing similar when we power off, but not as much info, at least on the 2012.
Just reset it at each fill up. That'll ease the trip-by-trip anxiety. If you acquire a ScanGauge, by default it can track mpg since each startup, and give you a numeric instant-to-instant mpg. Then you'll REALLY have anxiety.
