When I press on the gas going up a hill I hear a strange rattling sound like something is loose on my car. Does anyone know what this could be? I have 81,000 miles on my v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon)
Something is rattling not springing from my engineer's like something is loose on my car. Autocorrect messed up my reply. Something is loose not pinging.
Heat shields are the most common cause of such rattles, usually found along the pathway of the exhaust.
Can you tell the general direction or location of the sound? Some idea or where the rattling sound is emanating would help in possible diagnosis.
+1. Otherwise, if it were something loose, you would hear it at other times as well, especially when going over rough or uneven surfaces.
