http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=consumer&id=4091847 A story dated April 19 and they still use the numbers Consumer Reports retracted. I suspect the original story will never die.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Apr 19 2006, 08:47 AM) </div> Well, when the original number comes from a high profile article on hybrids, and the retraction is in a little footnote buried somewhere in the magazine, it's not surprising that most people only see the first number. I think periodicals should be required to use banner headlines across the front cover to publicize their mistakes: NEWS FLASH: LAST MONTH'S CONSUMER REPORTS REPORT FOUND TO HAVE ERRORS THAT CHANGE THE ENTIRE CONCLUSION OF REPORT! JUICY DETAILS INSIDE THIS ISSUE OF CONSUMER REPORTS! Also in this issue: Why you should never get your information from just one source, even if that source is Consumer Reports.
I wrote an email to the General Manager of the station (it wasn't all of ABC, just one station). I did get a reply and now it's gone. Hmmm.
