Well since it's been a couple years and the aftermarket parts for the Prius are becoming more available, does anyone know what are the best LED Low Beam Headlights I can get for the 2010 Prius I? There's SO much deceptive marketing out there like trying to say "4000 LM!" when if you read the fine print, it's really 2k / bulb, which makes their statement a lie. So I ended up buying some that are extremely dim, cost me about $23 for the pair, claimed 80W and 1200 Lumens, but that's just simply not true. I couldn't even see the road when they were installed. What started me on the whole search for LED headlight bulbs was that I was having to replace the H11's every 6 months and I was getting tired of it. Advice?
There is no such thing as a good drop in LED replacement for halogen bulbs. None. All the ones you see on ebay are sick cosmetic toys that do not put out any useful lights, as you have found out. Albeit technically against the law, you best bet would be to get an HID retrofit kit. I have read that in the Prius, they work better than the stock halogens, but not the factory LEDs. They do not last as long as the LEDs but more than the halogens.
Has anyone tried this LED headlight with the projector lens of our Prius? Search on eBay "2015 4th Gen ETI LED Headlight 60W 8000LM KIT H11 H9 H8 Bulbs x2 Hi or Low Beam". My account here hasn't matured enough for me to post links.
None of these LED drop in bulbs are ready for prime time quite frankly. If one wants an upgrade from halogen, go HID, so long as you have a vehicle with projector lenses (such as the Gen III Prius).
Not even this LED bulb? H11 Philips LED bulb | H16 Philips LED bulb | H8 Philips LED Fog bulb iPhone ?
Go with the H9 conversion . Pretty simple to do , tons of info on PriusChat on how to do it . Much brighter light , LONG life , and pretty cheap . Made a TON of difference on my 2011 .
