Hello to fellow members! Happy to be part of this forum Bought a red prius v (2012 used at 13K miles for $18400) and loving it so far Did the 2nd fillup yesterday and mpg is almost 55. Loving it - about 3 times my previous car and not to mention the stuff I could haul from home depot which I had to ask someone previously
54~55 mpg in a Prius v? You're doing something right! Save your gas receipts and calculate, you'll likely find Toyota is exaggerating a bit. But I understand with the v and c not so much.
Beyond Toyota's suggested maintenance, I recommend changing the transaxle fluid (with ATF WS) near 30,000 miles, near 90,000 miles and then every about 90,000 miles. (Past experience hints it degrades fastest during early service)
Yes I was surprised too since the claims are 40-44 mpg. I drive in eco mode. I zero my trip every time I fill and hence can calculate based on that. May be my commute has a part in it. I start the day with 25% battery. I start off the day on a relatively flat road followed by ups and downs to my kids school. The battery goes up to 75% on the way and ends up at 25% by the time I reach the school. Then I have a full grade down to work by which the battery is almost fully charged. When I return, there is lot of traffic, stops and battery is 50% I reach school. After that I am again mostly below the center line on the engine power and reach home with a 25% battery.
