My 2005 Prius just killed on me while driving, couldn't put car in neutral, had to get towed. Where the gears supposed to be it just shows blocks. Radio works but that's it. Went test 12 v auxiliary battery and it tested fine. When I place smart key in slot radio won't come on nor flashing lights on dash but if I hold key in my hand dash lights flash and I can power radio. I have no idea what's going on.
If the car died while you were driving, it's usually not related to the 12v. Have you done all the recalls on the car?
I can't even turn on the car to read any codes. Thanks guys for your help! I found the problem it was a blown fuse in the fuse box . It was the 15a AM2 fuse. Replaced it and car started up no problem. I'm going to change inverter pump with a new one, not sure if it caused it but it was a used one. I hope this helps anyone who might have this problem because it's a headache.
I hope you disconnected the inverter pump wiring harness connector - if not the AM2 fuse may blow again.
Yes I will I ordered a new pump and it's supposed to be in today, I changed fuse but never used car until I can replace pump just to be safe, thanks!
My new pump came in today, I took old one off and at the bottom of bracket you can see where it was burnt and smoking, I bleed it and refilled with pink fluid from Toyota. I see the turbulence in the reservoir so hopefully everything back to normal
