Hello, I own a 2012 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) that came with P205/60 R16 tires and they are going to need to be replaced soon. I just so happen to have a brand new set that I had bought for a previous car I don't have anymore of P205/55 R16's. Since these are slightly shorter tires will they still work with my Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon)? I was concerned that the car would sit lower and could potentially scrape something? Especially in the winter with a lot of snow, ice, slush?
In theory, it will be 4/10 of an inch lower. (10.25 mm) You do not list an address, so no one can guess how much snow you get.
There are numerous tire size calculators, according to the one on http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infotiremath.do your speedometer will be off by minus 2 mph at 65 mph. However, you should probably be more concerned with whether the tires are low rolling resistance tires.
They are not low rolling resistance tires, but to go buy another set of tires vs. having slightly worst gas mileage perhaps I break even.
according to an article I found online, if gas is $3.50/gallon low rolling resistance tires save approximately $33.60 per year in fuel.
