BREAKING: EPA Rates Tesla Model X Range - 90D 257 Miles, P90D 250 Miles Not too hideous - for an awd 500hp cross over, with a class 3 towing/5,000LB rated capability. Not too sure how accurate Inside EV's data is though - because their page states there's an option for 80amp dual charging, whereas Tesla is saying it'll have a single 60amp on-board charger only. In any event tomorrow will be data streamed from Tesla's web site of the first deliveries.
Wow I actually like the looks..... much improved over the prototype. And with a true aerodynamic shape for slipping through air. If all SUVs looked like this, with 4 cylinders equipped, they'd get >40mpg on the highway (and meet CAFE==55).

The picture above is actually one of the test mules. Last night's reveal shows Tesla found a way to decrease drag by eliminating the nose cone used on the 'S'. EDIT oops - forgot to post the new front end picture - some love the new look w/out nose cone - while others hate it. What do you think; It reminds me if the ol' EV1 front ... which i always liked and .... with all that power & rated for towing - how's this for a visual; .
Tesla launches Model X SUV with a focus on safety One of the "reasons" CARB chairpeople Alan Lloyd then Mary Nichols have stated that Electric vehicles probably won't make it and we need fuel cell vehicles, is that they are unsuitable for SUVs. The idea was batteries for enough range would be too heavy to move fast. The model X along with super chargers prove this wrong. The slower outlander phev also seems fast enough with enough all electric range to be popular in Japan and Europe, will come to the US next year. The model X is expensive, is it too expensive? The backlog is 20,000 vehicles, the problem is getting manufacturing scaled up. The real key to teals success will be the model 3. Tesla's Model X Is Here, and It's as Awesome as We Hoped | WIRED
poor Mary .... someone's going to have to make sure that her (or the heirs to her thrown) next BS alibi is more fool proof. Hey CARB - Good luck with that .... from the autoblog article i noticed this; Wow! no more strapping to the hood - or cutting the drywall in half - ah la Prius. It'll be interesting to see what the interior volume actually works out to. .
