08 Prius vsc flash

    Guys so I have an 08 Prius with pretty low miles and I took it to Toyota and they put it used inverter in but I still the same problems the skid control light will come on and the car will run like crap eventually going into the red triangle death screen and going to a fail live mode I can end of resetting all these things and driving the car in the car drives fine.

    Any suggestions on what pods I should look at to see if I can figure something out about it thanks.

    The Diagnostic Codes would be very helpful in guessing what is wrong. In theory the dealership (not Toyota, there is almost zero chance Toyota worked on your car) had at least one when they decided to replace the Inverter. I would guess you are resetting at least one currently to get the car to run again. Sadly, like your location, we do not get to know any of the codes and so can offer only extremely limited help.

    Jimbo I'm sorry but I really don't understand your wording excuse me if I don't get it. I'm new to hybrids and in trying to learn how to repair them and detect issues with them. So far not good :) if there is anything that I can explain about my situation to have me help you help me let me know. Thanks.

    You have P02A78 fault code. It can be with lot of different sub codes so knowing the sub code would help. If you want read it yourself get the Mini-VCI. Then with sub code you can use Toyota diagnostic manual for that code to find what’s broken.

    I had a dc dc performance code. They supposedly tested the inverter and transaxle and came up with a bad inverter. However we have the same results after they replaced it.

    I can pull detail codes through freeze frame on my scan tool.

    First detail code is first fault and second is for the second. Thanks

    Is P0a94 code now current? You did not put that one your first post. Maybe what you could do is to post use the list of all the codes that are now current and sub codes for those.

    I know hybrid ecu is suspect with a lot of the skid light flashing and jerkyness do we know if hybrid ecu is plug and play between 04-09 Prius?

    The only other code I've had had not listed her is a c1310 and a lot of lost communications code with u0123,24,26

    P0a94 555
    Boost converter fail (FCV) signal detection (overcurrent by inverter assembly malfunction)
    Fault finding tells you to look at the P0a78 or long list of other codes first.

    P0a78 282
    Motor inverter over voltage (OVH) signal detection (circuit malfunction)
    Fault finding tells you to first check that you don’t have any P0a78 278 or P0a78 280 codes. Check that when you do the scan next time.
    You can get the manual from Toyota web site if you want.

    why aren't you still working with the toyota dealer? never heard of a dealer willing to install a used part.(n)

    I guess that I am the exception that proves the rule. My CT Dealer installed a rebuilt HV battery (ReInVolt) for me a couple of years ago.

    I yea I think I'll pass on working with my Toyota dealer. They aren't as stand up as you would think.

    Have you checked that there aren’t any P0a78 278 or P0a78 280 codes?
