Hello! I just took possession of a new (to me) 2012 Prius. The main features I was looking for was white, 12+, <60k, trim level 3+. I found a nice white, '12, 50k, trim 3 (w solar roof), and was able to get it for $15k OTD. Glad everything came together! This forum has been quite helpful so far, and looking forward to learning more about the car in the future, and doing a few mods (goal is to have everything done by the end of the month). Thank you!
Thank you! First non-Honda I've owned, but Toyota should have a similar low cost of ownership and reliability-factor.
Lol....so I hadn't been able to connect phone to Prius radio via Bluetooth. When I looked at the Entune version number, it was 1.8.4...we are now on 5.1.0 ? haha Tried to update...no luck! And now radio keeps saying it is in update mode/doesn't act as normal. I can't get out of update mode, which is quite annoying. New radio should be here this weekend, and the update issues were my fault, but still annoying! On another note: so I'm pretty confident from reading various threads that aftermarket 6x9s will fit in the front door with the appropriate adapters, but it looks like 6.5s/6 3/4s are needed for the rear? I haven't seen anything that clearly lists what speakers are in/can fit each trim model (I have a non-JBL with navigation, based on pictures of all JBL models having JBL on the radio face).
Welcome! I am from Dallas and also own a 2014 Honda Odyssey, and I just bought my 2012 Prius four, also white with 40k miles. Mine is the JBL unit so not sure how similar but my iPhone 6+ was able to sync up ok. And yes mine has the JBL on the face. Sorry I can't be more help on that How are you enjoying the car so far?
The car itself is nice, albeit a lot more floaty than I am used to (modded/turbo s2000's and auto-x modded civics were prior daily drivers). Ride is definitely cushy, and better mileage, obviously. First non-manual car I've had in 10+ years. Glad to see a local! I live right near downtown, and wanted an automatic/better mileage car in anticipation of office relocation; the Prius definitely fits the bill!
Yeah my work is in Addison on the tollway and I come from east of Plano and my Prius is killing the drive with 50+ mpg with very little effort on my part. First time all that traffic has been helpful haha. One thing I have found that helps the ride feel more controlled is I pumped the tires up to 38 front, 36 rear. Dealer had them all at 32 but it is too squishy for the Prius in my opinion. MPG improved too. Some people here go up to 42 or 44 but I do like it so be somewhat comfortable so 38/36 seemed like a good middle ground.
Just wanted to say "Welcome to Prius Chat"! Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed ours. Best of luck to you.
Thank you! first fill up = 53.6 MPG The majority of the exterior lights have been replaced by LEDs, TapTurn relay/steering wheel/tint/Husky mats all installed. (Walkthroughs on here are pretty well written!) Waiting for more packages to arrive and to have time to install the rest of what I've received so far.
Welcome... I'm in Plano. I have a 2010 Prius I and I can confirm the rears will work with ~ 6.5" speakers. The door panels are easy to remove if you want to take a peak and get creative. I'm curious... what head end did you go with? I've been considering the stock fit Chinese Pure Android models.
I just went with the Pioneer NEX4100; plan to use AndroidAuto. Thought about the Pure Android thing, but figured it would be easier (for my situation) to basically have Google Maps/Pandora 'mirrored' on the Pioneer. Glad to hear about the 6.5s in the rear. I ordered 6.5s for that location, and 6x9s for the fronts. I don't want to add a sub or amp, so I believe this setup will satisfy me. Next obstacle to overcome: locating my sound deadening material.
Cool, Sounds like you have great plans to dress her up real fine.... You probably already know all this but you may find the attached files that are basically a Prius Gen3 sound deadening example. I found this a few months back but it looks like the data is not longer posted. Hope you find this info useful... Good Luck on the project.
nice, thank you! Yea, I checked that website (though it was years ago, I believe). Everything can always be improved, right? lol Let me know what you think of the Android head unit, if you end up going with one.
Will do... FYI - Here's some links the the Android units. Per other posts they fit perfectly and work well. I like the features and universal compatibility of an android based system. I also like flexibility to root it and do upgrades / add add mods. Pull out the spare and check it's pressure too. The valve's on the underside, so you have to get it right out to check, good fun though. It should be 60 psi, if it's long neglected it could be around 40. That's what ours was at, fresh after Pre-Delivery Inspect from our local dealership.
Ah, that's cheaper than the ones I saw. May go with Android next time Thanks, Mendel; regular tires were at 34.5, will check spare and air up tires a bit.
