On our 2010 Prius (with 120,088 miles), we have an extended warranty that expires at 125K miles. We have a bunch of repairs that we will need to get done before then. We just realized that sometimes standard factory warranties expire at 120K. Did we just blow it by allowing the vehicle to go over 120K, or is it a non-issue? If there are standard factory warranties that expire at 120K, will they still honor them if you are 88 miles over the 120K?
Yeah, not sure about your numbers as far as "Factory Warranty". If you have a extended warranty that expires at 125,000 miles? Then whatever is covered by that warranty IS still covered. I'd suggest if you have issues that need be taken care of? You start addressing them now. Why would anyone pay for an "extended warranty" that they thought only extended the warranty for 5000 miles past the factory? Hardly a good value. But whatever...sounds like you have some type of warranty coverage to 125,000 miles. You've got a little less than 5000 miles to take advantage of whatever it may cover.
Thanks. Great to know. Was concerned we really blew it. Bunch of different things that need repair. Have been holding off because drive the car regularly. Items include: metallic clanking sound when driving over road reflectors, air conditioning buttons on remote controls not working, rear-view mirror loose, electric motor battery does not charge up to "full" most of the time, stale smell when turning on AC, some rattling noises, rough start of combustion engine, low windshield washer indicator not working, repeated clicking sound when applying brakes. BTW, the 125K extended warranty was purchased by previous owner and transferred.
Battery usually tries to stay in the 50-75% range on the display. It does so to save room for regen. It usually only gets full when going down a large hill, so not an issue.
Make a list and present the auto and list to the dealer of your choice, ask for an estimate for all the work, present your paperwork, if you reach an amicable agreement, great, good luck.
In CA and some other CARB like states (northeast) the hybrid components are under 10 year/ 125K warranty, but any other factory warranty has long since expired. I hope you have a Toyota warranty, otherwise good luck on getting the repairs.
