MY 07 prius turned 104K- soon after - many of the warning lights came on red triangle/ ck engine/ needs maintenance- etc. Is this common when the 07 hits 100k?
Yep. Super common. All hybrids turn to junk when they hit 100,000 miles. It says so in the owners manual. All hybrids over 100,000 should just be given to me for free. Just kidding....... Follow Mavi's advice.
I think I changed it a year ago. I do have a KN filter- that I did not clean the last time my dtr drove it home- she has it now 4 hrs away. I told her to change out filter see if that helps.
Stop by the local auto parts store. They may be able to check your 12v for free. You could check it yourself with the "turning lights on/off 3 times while holding the Info button" trick. That is a real thing. With car in accessory mode (NOT "Ready". In other words keep foot off the brake, press power button.) Hold down the "Info" button and while holding it down turn the parking lights on and off 3 times, System Check Mode screen comes up Press the "Menu" button in the upper right corner Diagnosis Menu screen comes up Press "Display Check" Display Check screen comes up Press "Vehicle Signal Check" Vehicle Signal Check screen comes up The 12v battery voltage will appear in the upper left part of the screen. Note the voltage (11.9v - 12.6v is normal)
Is the MAINT REQ'D light on too? Did it come on at the same time as the others? That's strange since that light is just based on a mileage counter and has nothing to do with the other lights...unless it was already on.
Please see image- all these lights went off at the same time: just changed filter after lights went on ck'd battery- it was 12.5v any thoughts
If the 12v was at 12.5 volts with the car off, that sounds okay. You'll probably want to get the codes read.
From what Ive read thru prius chat- it sounds like inverter cooling pump- the car would only go 2mph- so my dtr had to stop - restart the car- then it worked enough to get her home. I'm having it towed to the dealer- I will post the codes once the dealership gives me their analysis. Thanks again for the reply
You can check inverter coolant pump function...with the car in "ready" mode, have her check for turbulence in the reservoir toward the center, back of the engine compartment with the pink fluid in it. It's sounding more like a significant failure of the traction battery. I don't think the inverter coolant pump not working would keep the car from moving. Is the gasoline engine starting? If so, is it running at high speed? If it's anywhere near San Fran, you might consider Luscious Garage instead. Luscious Garage | Hybrid Specialists They're kind of the national authority on repairing Prii.
Drum roll Please: codes from technician P0A80 P3021 x 2 both show hybrid battery weak/ so the dealership will replace the battery - since it is still under warranty- they noticed drive belt was cracked - so they will replace the belt thanks again for all input and info.
If I were you, at the least I would get Torque app so you can do your own code reading in the future.
Battery was replaced- but not without some hesitation from the dealership where the car is being serviced - I had inverter recall completed- nothing to the battery- the service dept stated that they could not warranty to battery because of the work that had been done to the battery. I didnt have any work done to the battery. I had the dealership call that has done 100% of all the work until this incident. I then rec'd a call stating the car was ready- not sure what was discussed- but the service dept called and stated that the warranty work was Ok'd- not sure by who. So, hybrid battery was replaced thru warranty / drive belt replaced due to wear.
The 12V AuxBattery in my 2009 Gen II up and died at about a year ago (~ 106,000miles). First symptoms were SKS system started to get flakey and not resolved by replacing fob batteries. Eventually I had to use JumpStart system so I had the dealer to a load test, they found dying AuxBattery which they changed, and so problem was fixed. I've started using a battery-maintainer (Sears DieHard) - I connected the pig-tail to the jump-points under the hood, so now if the car is not going to be used for a few days, I can quickly plug in the maintainer, and make sure the AuxBattery is kept in good shape! hope this helps - Wil
