I've had my car for little over 5 months now and I just noticed this little plastic thing on the dash where the front A pillar driver side meets the dash. I really never looked over there. Its kind of out of my field of vision since its clear. The passenger side does not have one. What is it? Is it something that was missed when the car was put together? Something the dealer forgot to remove? Some kind of plastic pocket? Some kind of death ray? Is it supposed to be removed? Can it be removed? Can it get me a beer? Can you get me a beer? yup, pull it off. should have been done by the dealer when pdi'd. Just a protective cover. OTOH, maybe you should wait to hear from some other '06 folks. That's where I have my worst rattle, I guess it's possible that that is a 'fix' for the dash rattle. I doubt it, but if all other '06s still have that then maybe it's intentional.
Thanks. I just took it off. That sucker was hard to get a good grip on. I pulled the whole thing out. I'm guessing it was sopossed to be eiser to pull out because it had some perferations. Not one of the perferations ripped. That was some strong plastic. I also popped up the dash a little bit trying to get it out. Every thing is in better than new condition now.
My '05 lacks that plastic and I've had serious rattle issues on both sides from that panel. I ended up isolating the fault to the forwardmost edge of the A-pillar and temp fixed it with some sticky velcro. I would have left the plastic alone.
I have an '05 that has the plastic, and have left it alone. My worst rattle is definitely coming from this location (I can often get it to stop by putting pressure on this small piece of dash in front of the A-Pillar). I figured it was an attempt (failed though it may be) to stop the rattle.
I had the identical plastic on my 2006. It was actually on both sides. After a close look at it I decided it should have been removed by the dealer so I pulled it off. I have not had any rattles from that location. Or bibs.
