Just saw on CNN that the Hummer I is being discontinued. Last ones will be built next month. The newscaster ended with a sarcastic comment asking who in the world would buy them. I thought it was funny. Peace --
I would buy ONLY the original H1. Those other hummers are just posers and are for wussy people that think they have a Hummer.
$140,000 9 mpg Hard to believe everyone doesn't want one. I'm sure Awnold won't have any trouble finding buyers for the nine he owns. Who wouldn't want to own one of the Terminator's hummers? As for the resale value of the rest.....there's been an H2 on the Ford used car lot near where I am for months. It's a "manager's special" and still there. I laugh when I drive by. The salemen stand around it and look at the price of gas at the corner station go up and up. $3.35 a gallon today.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(theforce @ May 12 2006, 06:13 PM) </div> The original H1 is a great vehicle - every bit as advanced as the Prius for its intended application, which, contradictory to what some think, is not for running the kids to school or going to the corner store. The H1 is outstanding off the road hauling big loads in tough conditions, which is why they continue to be manufactured for the military. The H2 and H3 don't deserve the hummer name. Tom
Let's do some math (this will be fun) I drive 40 miles every day to and from work. At 9 MPG, that's 4.44 gallons per day. At $2.80/gal. in my area, that's $12.43 per day just for driving. At 48.3 MPG (my lifetime average), that's 0.83 gallons per day. At $2.80/gal., that's $2.32 per day. I wonder how long it will be before I pay off my "Hybrid Premium". Since the Hummer costs more than three times what I paid for Priapus, I think I got the money back even before I drove him off the lot.
Funny, they discontinued the only Hummer that could run on Biodiesel. (yes I know not all of them have diesels in em but at least its an option)
Funny. The only "car" that didn't let anyone pass them to merge (i.e. straddle two lanes) was an H3 driver. Everyone else stayed in their own lane and did the "alternate" merging system. Shows you the kind of people who drive them
