<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ralph b @ May 13 2006, 06:06 PM) </div> It would be an interesting battle for third term presidencies.... George W. Bush versus Bill J. Clinton. Of course two-thirds of the country approve of Clinton and two-thirds (actually 71% in the latest poll) disapprove of Bush, so it's a pretty easy bet who would win it. (So be careful what you wish for.)
Most defininitely would. What people fail to understand is in our system (whether good or bad) you are really not voting for a person, rather an ideology. You either vote for the democrat or the republican or you waste your vote by either not voting or issueing a protest vote by voting for a third party candidate. If you like the government to take people's money and decide what is best for the people you vote democratic, if you want to keep your money and decide how to spend it you vote republican. With the advent of mass media and other forms of communication our form of government (and our country) is probably on its last legs and will not survive another 50 years. A democracy (actually we are a republic, but that is another story) can only work if the masses are kept ignorant. Think about this for a moment, if you could convince all the truely poor and ignorant to vote they would vote in candidates that would give them everything. Think about this all you democrats. If this happens you will have the congress taxing those that make more than $10,000 a year at the max rate to give handouts to those that don't want to work. If the majority could truly control things our economy would stop dead in its tracks. Anyone that had anything (including a Prius) would be forced to share it with those that did not want to contribute anything to society.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(kirbinster @ May 13 2006, 06:29 PM) </div> That is total nonsense, given the out-of-control spending in the Bush administration. He came into office and turned a record surplus into a record deficit. If you want the government to take $280 billion of your money and spend it on the Iraq war, you vote Republican. As someone who has volunteered with helping to provide homeless families (and these are usually working poor, not unemployed people) with temporary housing, I find your characterization of people in need as "poor and ignorant" and "don't want to work" to be very offensive. In my experience, most people want to work and, given the opportunity, will do all they can to better their situation.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(burritos @ May 13 2006, 04:26 PM) </div> Yuo. No doubt about it.
I only voted 1 time and that was at the last election. I wanted bush out of office. He put the economy in a crap hole right as I came out of highschool. I would have had a great job installing cable in office buildings with my friend which would have help to get my foot in the door to be a cable tester. Cable testers make the big money for doing almost nothing Instead i've been stuck in crappy minimum wage jobs and cant get anywhere. By pure luck I have a really good job working at a local hospital now. Been working there now for about a year. I'm still trying to get out of my parents house. I've calculated its going to take me about 2-4 years after the next election to get out of the crapper if a democrat gets elected. If a republican gets elected again and puts us in deeper crap i'm just going to move to Canada. I'm never voting again because as long as there are stupid people they will vote in stupid presidents and stupid people out number us smarter ones.
Just checking to see who out there still approves of a persident who: 1. Thought the Katrina disaster was handled competently. 2. Thought Harriet Myers was the most qualified person for the supreme court then flip flopped. 3. Had the foresight to see that Mission accomplished occurred 3 years ago in Iraq. 4. Has yet to veto one spending bill to cross his desk. 5. Condones the outing CIA operatives. 6. is able to nominate a competent CIA leader and then replace him 1 year later.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(burritos @ May 13 2006, 04:26 PM) </div> Yes, if only he could run again.....I hope to never see another dem in office in our life time. Our economy nor our military could stand a democrate in office. Our taxes would triple the first year and welfare would be rampant again
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(theforce @ May 13 2006, 03:58 PM) </div> Jay, I get the impression that it was more important for you to get your 2006 Prius Barcelona Red Package #7 than to move out of your parents' house. I am no fan of George W. Bush, but he is not at fault for this particular predicament.
Either way, this country has lots of problems that need someone to address them. I don't see that happening from either party.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IsrAmeriPrius @ May 13 2006, 07:06 PM) </div> Well the prius was first choice only because I want to get it paid off quick and I can do that now with my new job. My previous car was a 1986 dodge 600se on its last leg. I had it since I started driving. A car is more important than a house at the moment. I need to get to work. Yes I could buy a cheap used car but all the crap i've been through I deserve a nice new car. I'm saving up for a house now. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(huskers @ May 13 2006, 07:07 PM) </div> I agree. We need to get away from this 2 party system. Both parties suck and most people think that there are ONLY 2 parties. At least every one I came across. Maybe i'm just surrounded by idiots.
The 22nd Amendment Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once . . . http://www.termlimits.org/Current_Info/22n...dment-text.html So, let me get this right. For the longest time, ultra-liberal Democrats have been screaming that Bush was not elected to his first term . . . What in the 22nd Amendment would prevent him from being “not-elected†to his third term? How about Cheney-Bush in '08. Chances are Cheney's health won't hold up for four or eight years . . . W again! . . . and he wouldn't have been "elected" to the post of “President†this way either.
