I own a 2013 Five and love the car. I'm looking for a unicorn right now though - a 07 or 08 model with lower miles and a good package. I have found a nice, clean 07 with 99,000 miles on it, for $7,500. However, it is a package 1 or 2 (no bluetooth). I use bluetooth all the time, for playing music/podcasts from my phone. I'm looking at threads talking about difficulty adding in the aftermarket stereos, etc. It doesn't have steering wheel controls, so that wouldn't be an option but I'd probably add a double DIN stereo that will be touchscreen, so minor inconvenience. The car was personal use for the first owner, serviced at every mileage point at the dealership, and the second owner serviced it well also. It was a certified pre-owned when sold. There is so much good on this one, but I'm hung up on the package being lower for that price point. I'm not sure exactly though how much the package matters, when it comes to negotiating price. The service record history is nice, and it being a CPO is very good as well. I'm looking at it today, and if I like will have a hybrid mechanic look at it too. However, how much should I legitimately argue price on for it being a lower package? $1K?
Here's the package information for Gen2 cars. If the car is not what you're looking for, then why buy it? If bluetooth is the only thing missing, you can easily go aftermarket. I would worry about the car hv battery failing and having to spend $3000 later (making it close to $10k), it's already 9 years old
i don't know prices in arizona, but it seems high to me. especially with low demand due to gas prices. agree with jc^ in arizona, you may be looking for a battery sooner than later, but it's hard to predict.
That's high for that trim level. My '07 at 116k, pkg 3 could have only fetched about $6k on the open market.
Thank you all. I think after driving it, I don't want to be in an Gen 2 and will be looking for a Gen 3 in the under 10K range with 100Kish miles. So, back to the drawing board. I've grown accustomed to the Gen 3 (even though a Gen 2 was what I first drove as a rental and fell in love with).
Ended up finding a 2010 with 103K miles in white for $10K. Super clean, former lease and CPO. Great shape. Something just wasn't right sitting in the Gen 2. So now we own two Prii. Red and White. Next one I guess will be blue for the daughter.
