I just got my windshield replaced after an object crashed into it while on the interstate last week. After the windshield was replaced, I noticed a noise occurring in the car. It sounds like the wind is whispering inside the car. I looked it up online and some people said they had this issue because the windshield wasn't sealed properly or something. However, my dad and I noticed that something on the car appears broken and we don't know if this could be the cause of the whispering wind noise. This broken part could not have been damaged by the object that hit my windshield because the main damage of the windshield occurred on the opposite side of the windshield. We suspect our Safelite technician may have broken this part while replacing the windshield. I have included a photo of the damaged windshield and a link to a video I took to illustrate what I'm talking about.
Its the L shape plastic part on the lower left and right side of the windscreen, is it broken or can you clip it back in?
Thanks for posting the picture, yet I am unclear what part you show as broken. If you are writing that it is the outside "L" shaped trim it could increase noise yet I don't think leak air. Leaking would be the seal. Easy test.....place masking tape over the broken part and test drive down the highway...does the noise cease? Good luck.
update (5/11/16): In the video, it is a windshield molding (I think that is what they called it) and because they had broken it, SafeLite ordered a new one from Toyota and replaced it. However, I was still having issues with whistling sounds. SafeLite came out again a week later and this time the technician noticed a defect in the windshield, so they are going to replace it again. It was going to be replaced today, but something happened to it, so it will be replaced next week. I will post a future update next week. On a more positive note, my car just turned a year old last week!
