Fan noise randomly coming from rear of car

    Hi

    I have a 2012 Prius V station wagon and randomly when working in the garage I hear the car's rear fan?? come on and not shut off. I have to start the car in accessory mode or turning it actually on and then off again for it to stop.

    Does anyone know what this is and is this normal?

    You will find that the Prius makes all kinds of noises. Most are normal. Even when you leave the car.

    It's not random and all modern Toyotas do it.

    Two possibilities. Part of the cool down cycle.

    Or you just put the key fob in proximity and the car is going through its "he wants to turn me on" cycle.

    Walk out without the key fob and see if the behavior changes.
