I just got home from a road trip from NC to Yellowstone and back. On my way there I had the luxury of being hit by a retread (those awesome peices of rubber that are glued to old tires to make semi trailer tires cheaper) it took out the lower grill, drivers side fog light suround and put a split in my bumper on the outside drivers side. I have priced the grill and fog light parts and they will come to around $130 USD. But I really dont want to submit a claim to my insurance for the bumper. Can anyone point me to some kind of a lower lip for the front bumper? I've been searching and so far have had no luck.
Tough color to match. They do make flexible bumper repair kits. It is a mixed adhesive with support material and you could place the repair on the inside of the bumper cover. Then you have the crack appearance to deal with on the outside. I am unfamiliar with any lip, fairing, diffuser etc for Prius's. I believe the Benz AMG CLK Black Series has a vent/ trim panel in that area, yet maybe not cost effective and may not sit flush. So that leads me to a custom flat black custom designed (a triangle or like) wrap material to place on both left and right sides of the bumper. There's always a TRD Racing sticker option...haha joke. Again tough color to match. That's my two cents. Good luck.
The front piece with the crack is called the bumper cover. Unless you are talking about that black piece under the bumper cover I don't know what that is called. hope this helps
thanks Kenny, I will look into the flexible bumper repair kit. w2kpusly, I know that it is technically a bumper cover, when I say lower lip I am talking about an aftermarket molding that could cover up the damage without replacing the whole piece. Kind of like the extra pieces added to the Prius to make is an X-Urban Toyota Aqua X-Urban Release Date - New Models Cars 2016 They look kind of neat but I am not having any luck finding anything like this available in the US.
Silly me. I get it now. I took a quick look on rakuten and amazon.co.jp. They are pretty pricey. Good luck
Not familiar with the area you live in, but here in California we have an abundance of bumper repair guys that can repair your situation and make it look like new! I used one guy years ago when a crow bar flying in the air pierced my front bumper. Used another guy for my wife's car because my son didn't park her car far enough in the garage and the automatic garage door came down and put in some lovely deep groves in the rear bumper. Both repairs left the car looking like it never happened. Perhaps they have this type of bumper repair guys in your area.
Thanks, I had thought about that but haven't had a chance to pursue it yet. Been pretty busy and haven't had a chance to log in here either.
