welcome and congrats! definitely 87, prius doesn't need higher octane, and it won't help anything. brand? i use mobil, because it's right down the street, but have no idea which are the best. whenever i'm on the road, i fill up wherever convenient, never noticed a difference. i think there might be a top tier gas list somewhere.

California would have reformulated gasoline, so that implies fairly much the same recipe everywhere except possibly the detergents, whereas TopTierGas.com stations agree to add a bit extra detergent. Regular grade is fine.

Even Costco now sells "Top Tier" gasoline, usually has the lowest price in Southern California. It's what I use.
