Brake, ABS, VSC, (!) lights all on after locksmith programmed new key

    I took my car to the local locksmith and they programmed a new key fob for my 2006 Prius and when I started the car I noticed the brake, abs, vsc, and (!) lights were all on. I drove it around to see if they would turn off and noticed that the brakes felt different and not as responsive as they used to be. The new key has full functionality but I'm wondering if the programming may have corrupted something along the way.

    Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Any help is appreciated.

    There shouldn't be anything inn the key programming that would do that.

    There is an extended warranty on the brake actuator pump on the prius. That may be the failure

    I will look into that. It just seems like too much of a coincidence that this happened immediately after the new key was programmed, but you never know.

    A bad actuator will feel like you don't have power brakes, it's actually quite dangerous if that's the case

    Reboot the car by disconnecting the 12v for 10 seconds

    But if the locksmith screwed up using a computer attached to the car, it could affect the other electronic systems in the car

    It definitely feels like I don't have power brakes anymore. I'll try the reboot as well.

    Check the age and voltage of the 12V battery in addition to rebooting the car. The locksmith may have run down the battery while programming the new fob, and a bad 12V battery can cause a lot of problems.
