I just got a 2008 Prius and the power outlets simply don't work. I've replaced the fuses, replaced the 12v battery, and even checked with another working Prius outlet. Any other ideas? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
You know they only work when the car is in ready? If they don't work in ready you have a bad relay or both sockets are bad. I had to replace the front socket already.
They don't work when ready, when driving, or ever. How do I investigate further? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Not at home right now so don't know which relay it is. may just need the relay socket removed and replaced. Whats the deal with the car? owned since new...bought used...is it a salvage or accident recovery?
I would check in ready with a dvm at the fuses. See if you got 12 volts there. If not problem is not in the cabin its the relay. Or at least you better hope its the relay.
Sorry I didn't see this. My mom's boyfriend gave it to me and she said they worked when she let it go. Battery died once. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Agree, check for power at the fuse then check for power at the socket. I've had many chargers not work unless I messed with them (Verizon) I eventually found one that did iPhone ?
I looked it up and theirs 2 fuses. One fuse powers the relay coil and Power outlet #2 (rear) that fuse is called (15A PWR OUTLET ACC) The other fuse supplies power to the relay contactor for Outlet #1 (front) that fuse is called (15A PWR OUTLET FR as in Front BAT) Its a strange set up. The contactor side of the relay B+ is from the battery directly while the coil control side is fed by ACC or READY. So the front as the primary is designed for higher current because if you blow that fuse the BAT it only opens the front outlet if you blow the rear fuse the ACC one you will have neither outlet. So if you have neither outlet you have a blown ACC PWR OUTLET 15 amp fuse. The fuse box labels it as PWR OUTLET. Its the ninth fuse down in the box 15 amp. Its in the fuse compartment right next to your left leg on the left upper kick PANEL. The compartment cover has a diagram of the fuses. As a side note the relay is buried under the dash way behind that fuse box.
