Hello all. I bought a 2015 Prius Four two weeks ago. 21,000 miles. I have been very happy with the car except for one thing- the $%^&%$ beeping when the car is in Reverse. How exactly can a lifeform maintain sanity and turn the beeping off? I have read that there is a device to purchase? TIA Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Or as you know, you can buy a OBDII programmer. There are commercially made units, like I use : ScanGauge II ODB Scan Tool + Digital Gauges + Trip Computers - PriusChat Shop There are software packages for your bluetooth enabled device like torque for Android. Torque — OBD2 Performance and Diagnostics for your Vehicle Once you have downloaded it from Google Play you need a cheap ODBII to bluetooth adapter. amazon.com/Bluetooth-Foseal-Diagnostic-Scanner-Automotive/dp/B00T5G53ZM
Beep? What BEEP??? You won't even hear it when you're over 60. Just kidding, of course. I hear it, but it doesn't bother me at all. I just tune it out. Must be a "thing" among you younger peopleā¦
The best hardware to buy for turning off the beeper is Carista. Now I only have one beep. I've still lived with the annoying beep for 11 years on my gen 2. It's very easy to use and set up. Took about 5 minutes.
You can also get much cheaper OBD2 Bluetooth Scanners. Mine is an ELM327 V1.5 purchased from ebay for $10. The Carista software for Android will read from the scanner for free. To change options like door locks, the backup beeping, and the seatbelt beeping, it costs $10 for 1 week access to change the options.
