Mine came with three years of service, another of the untruths told to me by my wonderful salesman, who trained me with two words to cite to the Toyota rep that called, I never was contacted by Toyota, pity, my two words were, Insanely unprofessional, I wish I had more words to describe the ordeal.
3 years could be just 2 services if they're annual. ie, one at end of first year, 2nd at end of 2nd yr. At the end of 3rd year - you've had 3 years "FREE" - but in need of a service. That's the way a car salesman would talk.
The plan includes normal factory scheduled service for 2 years or 25K miles. Roadside assistance is for 2 years unlimited mileage. Images are from the ToyotaCare brochure mailed to me after purchase of my 2017 Prius Two.
The dealer ways slinging three years 36k miles service, emails phone calls, it was pure incompetence, that aside, the service dept is good ( Keene, NH)
Perhaps the dealer added an extra year for their customers. I know my dealer has customer incentives like free state inspections for life. I am too far away (150 miles) to take advantage of them. though.
Canada's got a lot of things going for it right now, but there are still some Americans who work on our own cars.
I was in a bit of a "mood", and the OP's apparent inability to pick up a phone, call the dealership (regarding free maintenance in the States), or crack open the documentation (regarding what is required maintenance), was getting to me. Just this hey: I'll ask the internet, it'll know.
I do my every 5k it free maintenance program until I hit 40k miles. I don't want to go twice so this how I do mine. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
You only get: TWO free oil changes and FIVE free tire rotations.......within the first 25K miles. After 25K, nothing is free, regardless of the time involved. Well except any warranties that may still apply.
I do not know where you got your information, but I have documentation from Toyota that says you are incorrect, for Gen 4 Prius. See post 24 above for photos of the docs received directly from Toyota. It explicitly states that normal scheduled maintenance is 2 years or 25,000 miles. They actually list the 25K mile rotation as included. In addition, 24-hour roadside assistance (including towing, if needed) is 2 years regardless of mileage. I stated this in post 24. The above only applies to the continental US & Alaska.
I did my tired rotation and parking brake recall today. The guy said oil change every 10 Miles. My understanding was that this Forum was to help each other. Some of the comment are really not necessarily at all. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
OK so I missed the tire rotations by one. Sorry. That means that you get 5 tire rotations. If you use them up before 25K miles, you are done. We were NOT talking about towing service; that is not routine maintenance. I will go back and correct my post. Thank you for catching the mistake. Your response was a little rough though.
Looks like the US free maintenance is up just before the first serious brake inspection is scheduled.
It is curious, but if you look at the photos in post 24, Toyota is only showing the check boxes in your example are covered for the maintenance, not the additional inspections. They also do not mention the visual brake inspection at 15K as covered. Here is 15K maintenance from the manual. for comparison (without special conditions).
it's up before anything worthwhile takes place. imagine if they went 3/36? probably cost them millions!
