Edwards as VP I had to cringe yesterday when I saw Bush's response when asked how Cheney would differ from Edwards as Vice President. Bush answered: "Because he (Cheney) could be president. Next question?". Is that a scary thought, or what? That an unethical sleaze bag (who selects Halliburton for all those over-priced contracts in Iraq while continuing to receive monthly checks from them) could be president.... Heaven help us.
In any country, be it Iraq or the USA, you're going to find all sorts of opinions. Talking to one person will not tell you the overall mood of the country. Based on a wide variety of sources, the general attitude seems to be the Iraqi's hated Saddam and are glad he's gone. But they do not want to have one dictator replaced with another, and everyone knows that no government democratically elected in a fair election there would be acceptable to the USA. Some time back Colin Powell said in a news conference that the U.S. would remain in Iraq until Iraq had "... a democratically-elected government friendly to the U.S." In other words, if the election produces a government not friendly to the U.S., the U.S. will not leave.
