Having signed up when we owned non-Toyotas, I'm still an active member of a couple of other car companies' forums. I found a real gem of an old thread today with some posts by one of the most respected members of that forum that I found quite funny. To set the context, the thread is from 2005 and trying to analyze GM's woes at the time. I'm willing to bet this guy would love to be able to take the following entry back. "The problem with Toyota's hybrid is it's just too complex (IMO). Honda's system is much, MUCH better. But, of course, Toyota's the marketing genius. Meanwhile, people with low-maintenance Insights laugh their asses off at the idiots with "Hybrid Synergy Drive" which causes more problems than it solves." I've been chuckling all afternoon.
Very odd, mechanically, the 2005 HSD is as simple as any transmission can bef, it has gotten minorly more complex since than, but is still simpler than any other transmission I am aware of.
