Greetings. I just replaced the 12 v battery on my 2007 Prius. Everything worked fine. I drove it around town for about 30 minutes. I restarted the engine. Everything looked good. 2 days later I started the engine but the dash lights were out. Computer lights were on. Engine wouldn't cut off unless the power button was held down. What's going on?
Maybe start by checking the 12 volt battery's voltage with a digital multi-meter. Did the last battery go suddenly? Just wondering, maybe there's a phantom drain on your batteries? Just a thought.
Yes. No problem then one day nothing except dash lights and the red triangle. It had been sitting for a couple weeks.
This can happen on GM product if the battery was disconnected incorrectly. Requires (at times) a whole new dash because of a voltage spike. (GM does not have a fuse on the circuit board to prevent this) I would research any tech manuals to see if the Prius dash is protected by a fuse. If so, check that. I would also check my battery connections again. Always remove negative terminal first!
