Driving in this morning after using the BMW i3-REx yesterday, I realized how little electrical information is available in our Prius Prime. Driving down the road, there is no "mi/kWh" like I have in the BMW i3-REx. We only have a projected miles and graphical battery icon. As for charging, both the BMW i3-REx and the Prius Prime have nothing to show how much charge and what profile was used. The owner has to get their own instrumentation. Both of these limitations are silly. As I contemplate the problem, I realized this is something that needs: Independent of OBD - manufacturers are aware of our efforts to find engineering data using the OBD port and the BMW i3-REx will found the 'break-in' alarm if an OBD device is found on the port. Real metrics - voltage and amps both DC and AC. Wireless access - it should be as close as your cell phone, pad, or laptop. SD card access - record the data for offline analysis. For AC loads which are the most interesting, these can be gotten without having to modify the wiring using non-contact sensors. DC current is also easily solved but DC voltage is a harder problem. Then using a ruggedized Arduino, the data can be captured and made WiFi available. The DC voltage problem may be solvable by looking at the safety interlock plug. Every Prius and the BMW has one to isolate the battery. It may be possible to add a high-impedance sensor in the safety plug but finding a ground reference may be the harder. Also, you don't want even the high-impedance leads leaving the plug but some sort of high-voltage isolation. Not impossible, just an intellectually challenging one. Thoughts? Bob Wilson
You can go into vehicle settings, under Meter Customize and have a mi/kWh (among other info) info displayed next to the speedometer or in the adjacent screen. Personally, I prefer the simplicity of the Eco guide and the Eco score, instead of the information overload and doing my own math.
As Dmitriy said you can customize the left side of the display using the split screen settings. There is a bar graph that shows mi/kwh on EV mode and MPG on HV mode. It looks like this.
The only charging metric we get in Advanced is amount of miles added. That's about it. I have a ChargePoint at my house and its app provides a lot more details on actual electricity used to charge.
I appreciate the display change just it is hard to do energy studies if there is no record for analysis. Bob Wilson

It is a Prius Prime Plus, the lowest trim level. Perhaps there is a URL to a YouTube demo of how to enable those displays? Bob Wilson
