I have seen lots of Toyota commercials on TV but never one for the Prime. If it is suppose to be a 50 state car, you would think a commercial would pop up once in a while. This is an amazing car. Why not promote it? Also, I still have not seen one in the wild.
They are saving their money, I guess to sell the "loser" barges, lumber wagons, and small stuff reserved for the peasants. My guess is part of the problem is that there are so few of the cars out there at this point, it's not worth spending advertising money to sell cars that you're already selling relatively easily. Just to show you how insane the world truly is, I was driving on the freeway 2 days ago and came up alongside a Prime titanium glow just like mine. I came alongside the guy, honked repeatedly, and he never even saw me. If our cars had been Alfa Romeos, we both would have pulled off the side of the road and had a one hour discussion about how great our cars were! I see several Primes every day out here in Southern California. Out here we have tons of Prii and my guess is that those owners are probably going to be Toyota Prime bread and butter buyers. If I were still in Toyota sales, I'd be contacting every previous Prius owner that I could find. .
i saw one a week or two ago, primetime, major channel. i was shocked. haven't seen it since though. not sure what toyota's advertising strategy is, haven't understood it in almost 20 years. they developed a reputation for quality and reliability, based on independent testing and reviews. between that, and the ability to deeply discount due to cost efficiencies, the company has grown tremendously. as for prime, they need to sell it more than they want to sell it, and i think the factory rebates and deep discounting in the northeast tell the whole story, and is compatible with toyota history. i've seen the hyundai hybrid commercials many times. meh, but kudo's for trying.
They are selling themselves for now and they can't make them fast enough so why waste advertising dollars? They need to start with making it more available, then advertise it.
It's tough not to mention the wonders of the place. But it's not my fault or great wisdom that got me here; it was my parents' dream to emigrate here to this beautiful place. The only smart thing I did was to stay here. My folks returned to France, terribly disillusioned by politics in the U.S., and the lack of a social safety net, especially vis a vis health care. Me, I'd never leave despite DJT, and his Gestapo. . Hey, you could blink and miss that commercial! Too bad; they've got a truly relevant, quality, economical, affordable luxury car here. I'm glad I got it kids!! p.s. Talked a guy in Virginia (a friend of a friend) into buying a Prime. Toyota: where's my commiss!!?? .
This seems to be a common trait since 2005 when we got our first Prius, a used 2003. I soon noticed that whatever fuel efficient car was out there, the drivers seemed intent on going to their destination and for 'car talk', we had to find forums like: PriusChat, Ecomodder, and the former GreenHybrid. Net, yes I know you were asking if we had seen on TV. I had not on TV or Net. So I just thougt I would post, since I had not seen any and was not sure if anyone else had
He absolutely would have loved it: engineer monster; loved technology. My mom would have loved it for the quiet and comfort. I wish I could still call them..... . Thanks for the post, Marty. Cool commercials; haven't seen anything like it out here, but I only watch PBS or Netflix or (excuse the expression ) Amazon Prime! Har, har! .
I was surprised to see that the Prime is the official hybrid car of the New York Yankees. Every game the Prime gets one or two mentions.
Yeah, I didn't say it overtly in my post, but where the heck are all (any?) auto enthusiasts?! My focus on cars used to be on total performance, driving well over 100 miles per hour, and racing my cars on racetracks. Now I'm focused on extreme efficiency and technological features. At least I don't get tickets anymore!! .
I found the only people at work I could talk with were gear heads. I didn't first have to teach them basic concepts and I could get good advice. Bob Wilson
No Prime TV commercials yet; BUT!, just saw a Pizza Hut commercial on Fox broadcast of Columbia/Poland soccer game Sunday, 6-24-18, where customers were heading for what I swear was Prius Prime!! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. AChoiredTaste.com
