Well, it is what it is. I hope whoever that was, who didn’t secure their load properly, get what they deserve. Fortunately, all of us are safe (there were 4 of us in the car, including my 9 month old son). As a result of the hit, broken headlamp and big dent in the hood. The flying piece of drywall hit the headlight first, then part of it got stuck in the headlight and the remaining piece landed on the hood, and then sort of slid off the windshield leaving very light scratches on the windshield (I can live with the scratches). I’d like to replace the headlamp by myself if possible, but can’t find any DIY guide on that. Does anyone know if there is a manual for that? Also, I found the headlight part on eBay for $100. Do I need an OEM part or an after market one is good enough? Thanks
Glad everyone is ok. If the c is anything like the liftback, removing the front bumper guard will gain you access to the light. Might want to check some salvage yards out as they might have some rear end hits that have some good front end parts. Good luck.
The car in front of me drove over the piece of drywall, which was already there, and as a result it got off the ground and hit my car. Something similar to this video - I carry liability only insurance.
There are several salvage yards in Rancho Cordova (TLS and Rancho Toyota Recyclers). They might be worth a call. I know they have a good supply of liftback parts, but the c is not as popular so there might be less supply. You might be able to get the housing for less than the eBay price. Good thing is we are out of the rainy season.
