Hi everyone, Newbie here from Sacramento. I just purchased a brand new Metallic Silver Prius today. I am excited. I got a great price on it as well. I used to drive a 1/2 ton truck which I will miss very much. I like the Prius and hope to drive it to 200k miles.
Congrats and welcome. Just drive it reasonably like any other car and you will be amazed at the economy.
I drove about 110 miles yesterday and I am showing 52.5 mpg. This is the first time in my life that I am seeing such kind of mpg. Just amazed at seeing such mpg numbers!!
14.5 mpg vs 50 - 60 mph does the trick I guess. It was very tough to give up the truck. It was the best vehicle I owned. My kids were kind of upset about that as well. I showed them the engine/electric motor/battery display on the car and that got them really excited. I also told them that this car is better for Daddy's wallet!!! Lol
still have it for dump runs and the like, 1-2,000 miles per year. i will never go back to a non plug in if i can help it.
$4500 federal income tax credit for Prime? 30D. New Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicles – Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
Yeah.. the fact that the primes here were selling for close to MSRP and that I have to wait till next year to get the $4500 made me go with Prius. I got the prius 2 at over $5K below MSRP. Apparently I also got the newer model with the BS/BP package as well. I am happy with the purchase.
If you are asking about Sacramento area - it is anywhere between $2.5 to $3.0 depending on the area. I believe starting in November CA will add gas tax to that amount as well. So it will get real expensive here.
I live in Reno and could go to Sac to purchase new Prius. Which dealership did you use and who was the salesperson?
It is Folsom Lake Toyota here in Folsom. The best car buying experience so far. Very good people. I don't want to post the name of the sales person. If you pm, I can send you the name.
It will get real expensive there... BUT NOT FOR YOU! lol Because...when the price of gas goes up, cost per mile only goes up a tiny bit. Think of it this way... At 50 mpg, you are doing 300 gallons per year x $2.50, That's $750/year If the price goes to $3.00 that's $900/year A 50 cent rise only costs us $150/year. Yes, that's real money, but to compare: If you got 20 mpg in your truck: that's 750 gallons x $2.50 That's $1,875/year If price goes up 50 cents 750 gal x $3 That's $2,250 In a truck, a 50 cent rise costs $375/year. So....imo, gas price rising/gas taxes matters a lot less in a Prius. We can live it up! lol BTW...note you save $1,100 in gas alone, per year, driving Prius vs the truck. !! sweeet... Not counting cost of a new car of course...
I agree with you. Actually my truck only gave me 14 mpg at best. So the savings was almost $2500. I realized it was a waste to spend $2.5k more to carry my a$$ around town. I could use that for one or two nice family vacations.
