Instrument cluster problem...and can't put in Drive

    May be someone already experienced this before, appreciate any experiences.

    My 2010 Prius drove perfectly yesterday. Today, the instrument cluster started issues... the lights come on left side and right side, but the MIDDLE section of the instrument panel does NOT light up (car+tires graphic, . Also, some of the warning light indicators do NOT go away after a few seconds. In addition, I can't put the lever in the Drive or Reverse. Any thoughts? Thank you.

    Have you checked the 12v battery?

    No, I have not. Is there any specific diagnostic step/process I can do myself? Any help is appreciated. Just wondering what else to do myself, before I open up the wallet wide open for the local dealership...thanks.
