I have a 2004 Toyota Prius and it runs great, but while I am driving it continuously beeps. I recently replaced the the electronic water pump and the coolant control valve. I have used a scanner and it indicated no codes. Plus, I just had my car smogged yesterday and it passed. --The beeping sounds like 3 beeps every 5 to 10 seconds and is continuous.
I tried that and it didn't work. I also checked my battery in diagnostic mode and no problem there. And I checked the FOB, and it was good as well. I have spent hours trying to figure this out but haven't had any luck.
I did that as well and had no luck. Could temperature have anything to do with it? Where I am at it is about 105 degrees daily.
What scanner are you using? If you recently worked on the cooling system, I would check to make sure the radiator is full.
Only time I hear 3 beeps is when I have a door open. Maybe you should check all doors and also the hatch
I used a couple scanners and just had it smogged and it passed. Checked the coolant multiple times and it's good. It was my first time draining and refilling the cooling system so that leads me to think I might not have bled the system well enough. I am going to bleed it again. Could that be the source of the beeping?
Some one has left a smoke detector under a seat ?? I once used a pair of airplane headphones to locate a beeper running out of batteries. iPhone ?
I think it is something simple like the hatch. I am going to tinker with it all day tomorrow till I find out how to fix it. I'll post the what was causing it, if I figure it out. I just signed up on this site and I got responses quick. I'm glad I found this site. Thanx for all the input!
Is the seat belt blinking on the dash in front of the passenger seat. If there's a lot of weight on the passenger seat the seat thinks there's a person seated and will nag the seatbelt beeper for that seat.
It doesn't have to be a lot of weight either. I once had it happen that the beeping would only occur when going around corners or over bumps. Turned out to be what I had on the seat, even though it didn't beep when I put it there because it was so light. Took me a long time to figure out too, as the passenger seat belt light is not really in your line of sight from the driver's seat, so never caught my eye until I looked directly at it. The fix, move the parcel (or whatever) to the floor, or do up the seat belt.
Ok, you've tinkered "all day" on it, what have you learned? Here on Prius Chat you've got to put up or shut up iPhone ?
