Hi Everyone, Well my 2006 Prius sits at my local Toyota Dealer waiting for the inevitable Monday morning confirmation that the hybrid battery needs replacing.(left it on Saturday afternoon when all the service reps had gone home) All the warning signs are there complete with the error codes as read by my cheap Bluetooth OBD connector and the Torque app on my phone. My question is do I go with the dealer and fit a new battery (what sought of warranty is offered on new battery in UK ?) Or has anyone had any dealings with hybrid24dotcodotuk and can recommend them. They offer a fitted tested refurbished battery for £400 and they come to the house. The guy said it would take about 45 mins. Thanks.
Probably lots of US members who are curious, but none of the UK peeps have seen it yet? I just noticed it myself. I have no idea what the warranty is there, but a genuine, new battery from Toyota has about a 99.9999999% chance of greatly outlasting a refurbished one.
Yes I have come to the same conclusion. The refurbished battery only has a 6 month or 6,000 mile guarantee . If the seller had more faith in there own work and product then I would expect at least 12 months. I have gone ahead with asking the dealer to install a new one. £1475 fitted. The dealer didn't have the warranty information to hand but I think the chances of a new battery lasting another 10 yrs or so are far greater than a refurbished one. Thank you for your input.
I only have 50k miles on my 2006 (previous owner was a little ol' lady) and just recently replaced the failed HV battery with a new one from Toyota. I made three module repairs before throwing in the towel and going with a new one. We expect to get another 6 or so years out of the car so it was an easy decision. Sorry, can't help with UK prices or choices. GOOD LUCK Mate!
