Anyone know the valve cover torque sequence? Changed the plugs only to find some oil on the top of each one...appears to have dried or perhaps burned as it's not a full liquid on the neck of the plug
This might help. You've never removed the valve cover? I think there's some sort of rubber collars, around each spark plug tube?
There should be a rubber type "o-ring" around each riser tube. Were the plugs actually wet? If there's no wetness that may just be some old gummed up dielectric grease that's used to lube, seal and insulate the spark plug boots.
I don't remember seeing a rubber rings, do you mean under the valve cover? ..have a link or photo of what that looks like? I'm the original owner and changed plugs once before I'm at 140,000 miles now and don't ever remember seeing any o-rings thanks for the replies
Thanks! I just finished watching your vids on spark plugs change, egr cleaning and coolant changes...you guys should do a valve gasket vid sometime lol
For sure, lets hope mine leaks sometime soon? lol... this morning my aux battery died, had to jump it too bad I didn't have time to do a video... maybe next time
Rube 86- I'm not sure where you are located, but if you want to do it I'll help and we can do the video. I'm about 50 miles south of Nashville and have a garage and all the tools we would need.
Harry, I must say that's quite the offer and very generous of you! I plan to do it with my brother this weekend though probably won't shoot a video as neither of us have a decent camera. Again, I appreciate the offer and am already growing fond of this community of Prius members! Thank you!!
I'm still new myself, but there are a lot of good people on here with a ton of knowledge! And I'm always one to help others out.
