Honda’s All-new 10th Gen 2018 Accord Reveal and Preview | CleanMPG 2018 Honda Accord drops mass, adds turbos and 10-speed - SAE International Honda cut at least 110 pounds while making the next Accord a true full size car. On the hybrid side, details are still minimal. The ICE is 40%+ thermally efficient They are aiming to best the new Camry's fuel economy figures No rare earth magnets in the motors battery under the rear seats
Question is... how would one compare the 2017 Prius vs 2018 Accord Hybrid? ... is that even a fair comparison?
not in my mind. one is a full size sedan, the other, a smallish lift back. hycam is the competitor to hyacc. interesting, they've gone a little funky on the styling.
really? that's crazy. i guess i'd have to sit in one. i'll be interested to see the specs on all 3 together.
The cut off for midsize to full size EPA is 120 cubic feet. The ICE Avalon sits right on that divide. The battery in the trunk means the hybrid has less total volume. The 2017 ICE Camry has about the same total volume as the Avalonh. The 2017 ICE Accord has about 1cu.ft. more than the Camry. Compare Side-by-Side "The new Accord’s interior boasts 2.5 ft3 of additional passenger volume (105.7 ft3 total) and an additional cubic foot of trunk space (total 16.7 ft3) on non-hybrid models." - the OP SAE link. That pushes the new Accord over into the full size segment by 1 to 2 cubic feet. With the battery going under the rear seat like the Camry, the Accordh should lose about the same amount of space, under a cubic foot. Both front and rear get more legroom. I think the new Accord hybrid will be desirable if it just matches the new Camry hybrid in MPG. Pricing and dealers will be its biggest hurdle.
I will be interested to read a head-to-head review of the Honda Accord Hybrid 2018 vs Toyota Camry 2018 Hybrid and see whether there is a clear "winner" of the head-to-head... for example, most of the reviews I've read which compare Honda CR-V to Toyota Rav4 claim that the CR-V is a "clear winner"...
Generally, Honda wins those battles, because they are considered more of a drivers car than Toyota, and usually charge a bit more, but give you what you pay for.
I'm only interested in the hybrid specs of all three models. Hyave felt enormous inside, and a uge trunk.
