Back in May, I lived through the adventure of a grid charge gone wrong which led to a failed HV battery that was totally my fault. (Augh!! P3000, P0A80, P3021, C1259 on an '07 | PriusChat) @TampaPrius.com had started selling Gen 2 batteries with complete sets of Gen 3 cells in them. He sold me a battery made from a totaled 2015. It was my wife's car and I rarely drive it. Today we took it to go watch our grandson's last soccer game of the season about 20 something miles away. Mostly 45 mph speed limits with some a little faster and just a little bit of side street thrown in the mix. When we left the house, the MFD was showing 52.4 mpg after 274 miles. Since I drive it so seldom, I hit the wrong button on the MFD and accidentally reset the data as we neared the soccer field. Here's what it showed 23 miles later when we got home. I have to say, this battery is doing the job!! (But it's time for someone to dust off that screen! )
Nope. In fact, I was noticing at the soccer game how hot the sun was and how little breeze there was. Just a little light breeze now and then. Mostly dead calm. And any breeze there was would have bee a cross wind half the time. I think it was mostly being able to drive at about 50 mph most of the time and only having to brake hard twice. I was able to drive in EV some where I was approaching red lights or in parking lots. No pulse and glide, though. One other factor is that the car had only been sitting for an hour and a half, so the engine wasn't completely cooled down when we started for home. But also note, that my wife is averaging around 52 mpg indicated (I think it's about 49 calculated) and she just drives it, including lots of short trips. After buying four cars from Todd and referring another buyer to him (who also bought a 2013 PiP), he gave me a discount and made me promise to not tell anyone the price. But his regular price at that time for that battery was $2,000. I don't know if it's the same now or not.
