I purchased a salvage 2011 Prius with 132K miles. It runs and drives but has no horn. When the horns are connected and the vehicle is started, it starts with a rumbling sound in the front of the vehicle. The rumbling sound stops when the horns are disconnected. Has anyone ran into this problem? Please understand that I do not know the mechanics that put this car back together after it was involved in a front end collision. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.
This is what it sounds like - more like a knocking sound. This only happens when the horn is reconnected. Sounds good without the horn. (Audio or Video file) I tried to attach the audio or video file but each one failed with this error: "The following error occurred: The uploaded file does not have an allowed extension. Voice 004.mp3". What extension is allowed on this forum?
One thing that I have noticed is that the Engine Air Intake Resonator Assembly (17750-37010) is missing. I have ordered a replacement. When the part comes in I will install and run another test.
Have replaced the Air Intake Resonator Assembly but it makes no difference. There is a cable that is disconnected but I cannot find what plugs into it. Unfortunately I cannot attach any photos or files at the moment to show what this cable looks like and the sound that comes from the horn when it is connected. Took it to a Toyota dealership and they were going to charge me $250.00 for diagnostics only. No, I am not going to do that. I am going to buy a Mini VCI with the Techstream software and do my own diagnostics for much less.
