Most of us have heard at least rumours by now of Andrew Grant's Prius taxi with over 200,00 miles. But it's not like that's the only one in town. I've seen about 5 different paint schemes and too many taxis to count. Is this common where you are? How many have you seen? What colours are they painted?
I live near Hermiston, OR so I get up to the tri-cities quite a bit. They have Prius taxis in Kennewick and the ones I've seen have been white. I don't know how many they have but it is several according to the salesman where I bought my car in Pasco.
Here there's Yellow Cab, Delta Sunshine Cab, Newton Whaley, Black Top, Richmond Cab, Coquitlam Taxi, Bonny, Surdel. That's all I recall.
I have not seen a Prius taxi but I have seen in NYC the Ford Escape Hybrid as a taxi. A taxi driver running a Prius would have a big financial advantage, not only less fuel, less brakes and tranny problems too.
In addition to the dozen or more Prius taxis that I see daily in Victoria, I saw another sight today. There was a vehicle that looked something like a Smart car or a Yaris. (We have lots of Smart cars in Victoria as well.) When I looked closer, it said it was an electric car. The only manufacturer marking I could see on it was IT on the hood.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Smooth Operator @ Jul 21 2006, 06:04 PM) </div> I see at least 20 a day between Empress and Victoria Taxi. They only seem to be downtown though. The guys that do the ferry/ airport runs still stick with the Impala/ Crown Vics etc., I would guess for luggage capacity.
