Hi All, I recently bought an 07 with 113k miles and am preparing for my first winter with it in Michigan. I'm planning to buy a set of Blizzaks and steel wheels and noticed that the 15" wheels are tires are ~$180 cheaper than the 16" wheels and tires. The current tires are 16" all-seasons. Is there any disadvantage to running 15" for the winter?
TireRack suggests minus sizing for winter tires has real advantages. Winter Tech Information - Size Selection of Winter / Snow Tires
Use the "specs" page at tire wrack to make sure the diameter is the same, the width will be less, hence a smaller footprint, better in snow A smaller diameter will wear faster and use more gas
None that I know of! (check threads passim and you'll see that my solution is precisely what you plan to do!) BTW: my solution to the TPMS question is to leave the TPMS sensors on the OEM rims, and my State Inspection is in June (when the summer wheels are on, so there's no problem with the legal/safety aspect) and I also have a set of these: which are fitted year round, and work perfectly (so far!) PS: If you have a ScanGauge II, there is an update which gives you the same information (pressure & temperature) as the Cacagoo sensors!
