Could a gas tax hike put 1.2 million EVs on the road?

    They could be wrong though if the tax is raised gradually.
    Gradual changes may have a different effect.

    The tax should be much higher, but it's better than nothing.

    Still wish it would be indexed to inflation, something that should have been done since the beginning.

    People are naturally averse to paying taxes, especially more of them. What if we added up all the costs of the various modes of transportation, and divided it by the users? Never mind calling it a tax; we're simply paying the costs.

    not sure i'm buying that it was 'floated out there' by the white house, in all sincerity.

    If you think the EVs aren't going to pay the road tax that is collected per gallon of fuel you believe in unicorn farts (they are delicious). There will be an EV tax in a few years or a few months. And it won't go to the power companies. It will probably be a miles-driven-this-month hit to the Hip National Bank. Via transponder.
