I posted this earlier today on Reddit but didn't really get any responses, hoping a dedicated Prius forum may have some solutions for me: I live in Chicago and do not have a garage space. Due to the recent snowfall us Chicago residents in this situation need to sometimes maneuver out of tight spots. When I was trying to back out of my spot today my 2017 Prius Two display popped up with "object detected acceleration decreased". The object was a snow bank I was trying back into so I could get out of my parking spot. Is there a way to turn off this setting? I thought it would be the collision detection system but after I turned that off that didn't stop the car from limiting the acceleration and the same message popping up. Had I been able to reach full acceleration I believe I would've been able to get out of my spot relatively easily but because of this it turned into a long hassle. I had traction control turned off but that didn't help either. Other than this, I will say the Prius drives great in the winter once you can get it on the roads!

What you are seeing is the Rear Cross Traffic alert. This is one of the safety features that was added late 2017 to Trim Two so mine does not have it. I see no mention of how to disable it.
The rear traffic alert is actually different, that's happened to me many times before and the display will say "rear cross traffic". What I'm seeing, it just says "object detected acceleration decreased".
Years ago I was in Chicago for a funeral in one of the neighbohoods. It was basically one run down the middle of the street and cars covered with snow on both sides with snow between them, what a mess. I feel for you.
Youtube vdeo shows how to turn off PCS, my prime is different, but basically it's a case of toggeling through the setup screen and turning off or on the feature.
Many of the roads in Cornwall are built like that; single lane for both directions with occasional passing places. The inevitable reversing for some can be a nightmare. Good spectator sport though!
Welcome to PriusChat! It's the Intelligent Clearance Sonar. The first part is the reason why you had reduced accelerator input (hybrid system output restriction control). You can turn off ICS in the same menu where you turned off PCS, but scroll further down to ICS. Keep in mind that ICS will stay off until you manually turn it back on. This is different from PCS where if you turn PCS off, it will turn back on the next time you start up the car.
None of these systems are perfect yet. Over the past couple years we've had them slow us due to an overhead bridge, a semi truck in an adjacent Lane, even a family sized metalic chip sack getting blown in front of us on a free way. For now it seems they want to set up these systems to err on the side of caution, rather than collide with something. .
Although here in the States across the pond, I'm a Doc Martin fan, and it clearly demonstrates it when Doc drives down the ones near Port Issac... there must be a lot more room in the Hedgerows then it appears.;-) Lots of the country roads over here are the same too!
Many of those Cornish hedges beside the roads look benign enough. But in fact conceal hard rock walls. Not very forgiving when struck by errant motor vehicles!
I used to be fascinated by how small the Yorkshire laneways were - with the tiny cars in All Creatures Great and Small. And how the tiny Austin 7 managed to get traction with tyres not much wider than a Mountain Bike on mushy farm tracks etc.
