Go to the dollar store if you need spray bottles to make solutions. For the tougher jobs: Bon Ami is a stronger abrasive, yet still gentle, Oxy Clean is a more concentrated non-chlorine bleach. Orange/citrus oil-based cleaners are helpful to get stains out of things stainless steel coffee mugs, remove stickers and permanent marker stains. Biz is an enzyme laundry additive that helps get grease, oil, blood, food stains, grass stains, etc. out of clothes. Save some money and avoid breathing in nasty things that can make you sick. Well thar you go. Sodium bicarbonate + hydrogen peroxide is similar to OxiClean chemistry. == Because we don't clean anything with gasoline any more (right guys ? ), I guess the most dangerous household chemical is paint stripper.
Some of the usual suspects in household cleaners also contribute significantly to pollution, in addition to being harmful to us directly. It's not just our cars that emit nasty stuff. I'll add vinegar to the list of benign cleaning things - it works quite well in combination with baking soda, as it bubbles away. With hydrogen peroxide being cytotoxic, I'm not sure it's the safest cleanser. Defiinitely don't use it to clean a wound, because it will only kill the regenerating skin cells. I have family with asthma, and a friend who died of COPD - such a horrid way to go.
