    The tesla never set out to be a super racecar as far as the X, S, 3 go.. thats just a byproduct of the design. It's a family car, which can be used day to day and occasionally can be a super fast speed demon when need be. The roadster will be an interesting comparison as that's a straight out speedster.

    They were designed to be more performance than a family car. BMW is the benchmark Musk uses in statements. The S is targeted at the 7 Series, and the 3 the 3 Series.
