hi Folks. My 2007 gen2 is sks equipped. It unlocks as i come close and everything works.. I can start the car etc as long as I don't insert the key in ignition..once insert the car won't start. Is that usually how sks works.. ? Can I reproogram an old key from another car. ? My current key has a silver Toyota logo on back..
Err, don't insert the sks in the ignition. Is your 12 v fresh? Disconnect the 12 v negative for ten minutes and reconnect, digital devices are weird. There might be debris in the sks socket...
Yes I always keep my keys in pocket and drive around. . SKS socket looks clean and no debris on regular inspection.
My negative was disconnected for Few hours last week when I was working on battery.. this problem has been there for a while . I can try again.
Something is wrong with the transponder registration. One thing to try is reregistering the transponder using another keyfob that still works in the keyslot. It's the short chicken dance procedure (the long one is for the SKS functions).
Has the outer case of the FOB ever been replaced? If so, sounds like maybe the RFID chip wasn't swapped into the new cover. When using the key slot, doesn't it work only via the RFID chip?
