I just bought a 2012 Prius v for my daughter, but the car did not come with the retractable cargo cover. I would like to look for a used one. Does the v use the same retractable cover as the gen 3 prius?
I believe there is a storage compartment for the cover. It may be there waiting for you. According to the manual, not all vehicles had the cover though.
Lots of those covers get lost in someone's garage and never get included in a trade-in or sale. My cover is there and probably covered in dust and cobwebs. I use the under-the-deck storage slot for storage of a few golf clubs for the driving range and an umbrella. Another thing I keep there is an old shower curtain as it folds up, takes no room, could cover anything in the trunk but also helps if I have to change a tire. (Check the pressure in the spare. Often overlooked.) I suspect the cover is very v specific.
Before I gave the car to my daughter, I checked the tire pressure, including the spare (it had 15 psi). So the cover was not stored under the back. May never have had one, but she wants one.
They’re not the same. The Prius v’s tonneau cover has two extra flaps towards the front of the car within clips to connect to the headrest stems. This allows the rear seats to recline while the tonneau cover is still in place.
See page 330 in the users manual for a photo of the cover... https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM47784U/pdf/OM47784U.pdf#page266
The cover is listed as optional. On vehicles that did not come with the cover, are the hook, etc. for the cover present or would they need to be added too if a cover were purchased?
If the OP does a Google search on 2012 prius v cargo cover there are a bunch of listings that may pertain. Not cheap though...
The hooks are part of the cover and they connect to the posts on the headrests. Link here Ebay ~$240 has a picture showing the hooks on the cover. No other parts needed.
