05 Prius..Lord help us!! Heater stopped working..got the P119 something like that code. Replaced that part. The belt then snapped stranding me on the side of the road. Vehicle was towed. Replaced water pump, new 12v battery, oil change/filter/air filter/coolant...the whole shebang. Now the damn thing won’t start!!! The engine part that is. It tries to come on, problem light comes on, and then it shuts off the motor. Keep having to unplug the battery to reset it. There has to be someway to bypass the computer for the motor to run long enough to recognize new fluids and parts etc. But we cannot figure it out. Have to get this vehicle to our Marine ASAP! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Without codes, my guess would be either your 12V battery is weak, or the traction battery. Even a new 12V battery, could be weak. Have the battery loaded tested
Any chance the oil is overfilled? Check the dipstick and post a pic of it. Prius do not like to be over the fill line.
Worst case scenario: you could have run the HV battery down too low when you had troubles on the road and now it doesn't have enough "juice" to crank start the gasoline engine. The car has trouble codes that need to be read. GOOD LUCK!
You are missing one digit in your code but a P0119 is Engine Coolant Temperature Intermittent. Check your coolant level and like mentioned have your 12 V battery tested. Strange things happen in a Prius with low 12 Volt battery voltage.
The belt snapping is ominous. You don't know it snapped and continue driving till the check engine comes on as its in overheat. Usually severe overheat. Because the belt powers the engine water pump. No belt no pump. Terrible design no warning if belt goes. No temp gauge. If any lurkers watching this replace your belt after about 75000 miles as it will start to show wear. Its strictly preemptive. Keep a healthy belt on the car. Lose the belt it sometimes will toast the engine or your wallet. The overheat may have blown the head gasket or siezed the engine. Please explain in detail the belt snapping circumstances please. Was there smoke coming off the engine at the end of this scenario? How bad did it overheat?
