Went out to the 2010 Prius (200366 miles) today and got the Hybrid status message on the screen. Did some research and the most common cause seams to be the Aux battery so I replaced it noticing the one in the car was from the factory. No help ran a scan tool and pulled up message U0100 Lost Communication With ECM/PCM "A" Im at a loss to which way to go checked connectors and fuses.... ect. Also engine never starts and the car in not able to go into drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would just throw in the towel and take it to dealership, but that's me. I do know the message "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM" can mean pretty much anything. If it's the hybrid battery (and it sounds like it is) it's likely still in warranty, barring high mileage.
So here's an update the "Hybrid System" message has went away so it may have been the Aux battery. The engine starts but I now have a P0453 message with a u0100 ecu message, but the car now runs and moves. I will cont. to T/S tomorrow.........
