I read that there is a switch at the base of the steering wheel to control the anti lockout feature. I only have 3 delete covers there, no switches behind them. Was this an option? Only recently did the car icon with the key inside start flashing, after 8 years of ownership!
Does the 'car icon with the key inside' (hybrid vehicle immobilizer / theft deterrent system) only appear when the vehicle is off and with the doors locked? Have you ever changed the fob battery? (always a good place to start) Here is the owners manual, read up on the keys and doors section 2-1 (page 17), hopefully that will bring some clarity to the potential problem. https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM47482U/pdf/OM47482U.pdf
I will assume it prevents the doors from being locked from the outside if a fob is detected inside. Why you would want to turn that feature off is beyond me...
It is a feature only on cars with SKS. I wish it was clever enough to figure out that one key is in the car and one key is out the car (like right next to the driver's door!), so go ahead and allow the car to lock. Such a nuisance to have to make SWMBO get her purse/handbag out the car all the time.
ah, never heard it called anti lockout. how does it prevent you from being locked out? i thought it just stopped transmitting so you have to use the fob buttons instead of touching the door handle. i really thought of it as a battery saver.
The key lockout feature is a separate thing that doesn't have a button. So really I'm just guessing based on the location.
