After you replace the offending fuses it will all come to life and there should be DTCs stored to read. If the problem is now fixed minus the fuses it doesn't matter so much. But the fact that the dome lights and hazards work means not the main fuses or the fusible link that you checked. So it could also mean there is power to the obdii port. It's hard to know unless you know what blew.

I guess we'll wait and see what comes from the fuses and if it just works.

If you end up replacing the pump some tools you may want handy, 2 hose clamp pliers, socket wrench, 10 mm socket, socket extension, Phillips screwdriver, pliers.

To access the pump, it easiest to remove the headlamp assembly first by slightly dropping bumper.

    I replaced the pump already...
Slight problem today, borrowed a friends car for a little bit, and wrecked it. I have no way to get to my car today. And now I have other issues with vehicles.

Hopefully everyone is ok. Sounds like you're on a heck of a bad luck streak. Be careful out there!!

Hell yeah !!!! I'm supposed to pick up a 1993 Grand Cherokee for a "repair and flip" sometime Saturday morning, but I could head that way after I get it to the house. Even if it kicks our ***, I'm willing to learn something new. I'm sure we can figure something out. I can throw all kinds of spares in the car just in case.

It has to be something simple... I just don't have enough understanding of the Prius and all its idiosyncrasies, to know where to troubleshoot.

Symptoms of pump that then blows pump fuse
    12v battery at proper voltage
    HV battery looks fine.
    Dome light works
    Car can not for ready.
No circulation in inverter coolant reservoir.
Removing AM2 fuse does not affect the car negatively.
15 amp fuse for pump is blown.
Replacing fuse makes burnt electric smell and fuse blows again.

This is different from when done light fuse blows, which makes the car inoperable.
    Symptoms of that are that
Dome light does not light up.
    Car will not power up

A tow truck seems cheaper than the deductible on a newly wrecked vehicle...

I would still advise just getting it towed. I've towed the Prius many times. Only once because it broke down (after 2 years of degraded battery performance and then another 8 months driving on the red triangle of death, it did warn me...) and the rest just to "reposition" it.

If you get a AAA membership it is ridiculously cheap. And the first time you stay at a hotel or rent a car, you'll basically make up the annual premium in discounts making it a wash with benefits. It's like pre-paying for a tow but getting a buy 1 get 2 free each year plus 20% off here, 40% off there, etc.

FIRST OF ALL...BIG THANKS TO TMR-JWAP! It was great meeting you. I don't know what you're so worried about, I couldn't tell that you were born a woman. LOL/jk Jim was more than gracious with his time!
as we all suspected, it was that fuse. When I met up with Jim this morning, one of the first things he showed me, was a video that he made last night simulating what happens when that fuse blows. As soon as I watched that video, I was 100% certain that's what it was.
So, the good news is, the car is back on the road with a new inverter and new inverter pump. The great news is, we drove around for a while using techstream checking everything out, and for a 283,000 mile 2007 Prius, things look pretty promising in the HV department on this vehicle.
Again, many thanks to the board for all your thoughts and input, and infinite thanks to TMR-JWAP!!

Glad you got it going again!

Now would be a good time (not critical!) to order an OBDII scanner on Amazon and throw it in the centre console. Just keep it there until you need it one day. With 283k miles on it, there will be an issue eventually. Maybe nothing, maybe something serious. But that reader can come in mighty handy. I'd say worth a $20 investment. Can be used in any automobile going forwards.

And you know, now that we've got you here, you're welcome to stay. No need to only pop in when the car doesn't work!

Very strange to have blown that fuse when you already replaced the inverter pump. Did you originally install a new pump or used pump?

The pump was JUST replaced AFTER the fuse blew/breakdown. I replaced it, along with the inverter on the side of the road, with a brand-new OE pump/used 09 40k inverter

2k, That was already the plan, I just wanted to see some of that in action, which I did with Jim's equipment today.
I'm a big fan of all kinds of gauges and monitoring equipment. I want to see how long this car will go. I didn't balk at the mileage when I bought it, because it was only two owners, with a fair amount of receipts etc.

I'm sticking around. I'm an old car chat room veteran . It's just that the Prius is new to me. Been working on cars for 30 years. I love to DIY and tinker, I've been lurking here/researching since I bought the car a month ago. LOL

Hmmm. Save that inverter, probably nothing wrong with it. Your failure was the inverter pump

No. The inverter had an issue within theAC module/ECM already. I knew this upon purchase of the car
It was already getting replaced , that's why I had an inverter and brand-new pump ready to go. That was actually scheduled to happen today on my first day off. LOL
